PROTECTING WOMEN'S RIGHT

With the support from USAID funded Hariyo Ban Program, Himalayan Grassroots Women’s Natural Resource Management (HIMAWANTI), Nepal implemented eight months long project named “Protecting Women’s Rights in Natural Resource Management and Gender and Policy Brief Paper for Providing Inputs on Forest and Bio-diversity Strategies”. Hariyo Ban supported HIMAWANTI for innovative ideas in analyzing potentiality of women from sectors other than NRM such as water user groups, saving credit groups, cooperative groups, mothers group, sisters group, widows group, women farmers group. One of the objectives of the project is to organize different activities for rural, grassroots women engaged in different sectors away from natural resource management (NRM). Through those activities involvement, they will build leadership potentiality, and utilize it in NRM. Another objective of the project is to collect feedbacks from grassroots and concerned line agencies for forest and biodiversity policies that are currently being revised in the current context.
